The North Face was founded in 1966 in San Francisco. It was launched by Douglas Tompkins and his wife. The brand would probably remain popular only among outdoor enthusiasts, had it been not for New York rappers, who took to it in the 1990s. As a result, in 2007 Supreme, one of the streetwear brands, started a collaboration with The North Face.
