Vans Old Skool - a hint of freshness
11 years after Van Doren brothers launched “Style #44", which we know now as Vans Authentic, Paul had an idea to come up with a new model, different from the usual “deck shoe." One day while he was sketching, Paul Van Doren created a project of what was initially described as “jazz stripe." He decided to include this stripe in the design of the new shoe. That was the beginning of the popular brand symbol. Vans Old Skool (back then known as “Style #36") was the first model with the iconic side stripe.
Therefore Vans Old Skool was a pioneering model, which took the Californian producer to a brand new land. These shoes were the first skater model by this brand to use leather panels for extra durability. Initially, it was launched in three understated colours. One of them was the popular blue version, famous mainly because of Stacy Peralty - an American skater, surfer and then a film director.
This is when Vans Old Skool and Authentic started to compete for the title of the most recognisable model by this brand.
