Karl Lagerfeldt was born on 10th September 1933 in Hamburg, Germany. He always likes to be involved in a creative process – he used to draw, sketch and doodle whenever he had a moment to spare. As a youth he moved to Paris to attend the legendary and prestigious Lycée Montaigne –  he was keen to attend such classes as history and art.

Once he graduated, he started his fashion career – first he was the assistant at Balmain, then he worked for Fendi, and finally he went on to become the creative director at Chanel. This is when he became famous. Karl was known for his controversial views and extravagant style – but later on he claimed it was only an “image” he wanted to convey. He had a cat, who was soon recognised as a genuine celebrity - she earned her own living and could afford the best tuna (and much more –   she had million-euro wages).
